Due to unexpected slippery and snowy conditions I had an accident in my WRX this morning. With the exception of hitting a deer a few years ago this is the first accident I have had with it. While on my way to work at 4:30 a.m. I took a turn and spun the WRX into a tree at about 15 mph. The damage report is fender, bumper, inner fender, and headlight. Possibly my hood as well. Time to see what the insurance adjuster will have to say for cost.

RIP car, but at least you seem to be fine. See a doctor soon...

Yeah. No injuries. I wasn’t going all that fast. Just lost control on fresh snow.

That’s... a lot of damage for 15mph. What is Subaru making their cars out of these days?

I am not even sore. The car contacted the tree and rotated around it.

ouch!
oh well, time to turn it into a rally weapon!

Alright. I’m just saying, if you end up feeling even a little sore, don’t dismiss it.

It was just fender and bumper. The bumper structure itself may be slightly bent but it missed all other structural members.

Yeah. I understand. Thank you for the concern.

RIP WRX, may you live to brap again.

Any internal damage, or structural damage? If no, you lucked out.

Listen to this crab! He is a doctor after all!

Glad you’re ok and all... But AWD and snow tires! Nothing personal but caution and luck help too. I’ve driven a Grand Marquis with its 99/1 weight distribution through 15 years of Chicago winters on “all” seasons and never hit anything or got stuck beyond a little forward and backward rocking to get going.

Give it to him straight doc, he has fin fungus, doesn’t he? He’ll be upside down by tomorrow morning.... *shakes head slowly*

If it is totalled the plan is Factory Five 818c. If not back to daily driver till the rust takes hold.

The bumper structure may be bent. Hard to tell.

Fingers crossed, hopefully you skate away from this one only needing a few new body parts and a headlight.

that’ll buff right out, plus the snow is the color of the car, so you can use it as body filler :p

I’ve had the WRX over 6 years now. This is my first accident besides a hit deer. Just taking a turn and I lost all traction and it spun, then I was along for the ride.

Damn, that sucks, I’m sorry. Just curious, what tires did you have on there? It looks like some kind of snow tire, I’m wondering the brand

I’ll do a snonut for you while we still have snow.

Goodyear Ultra Grips. The first year they were great. Then each year they have gotten a little worse. This is their 3rd season. They are ok but I would try something different next time.

![]() 12/08/2017 at 23:25 |

Less then 15,000. Probably around 12,000.
